Experience
I have been working with computers exensively since 1984. At that time, I was employed with Sperry Corporation in Long Island, New York, where I set up computers and installed software; in addition to mainframe programming. I was with Sperry (UNISYS) for eight (8) years (the last six in Reston and Tysons Corner, VA), learning about Novel Networks, Spreadsheet programming (Lotus 1-2-3 and Symphony Macro coding), database programming (dBase) , as as developing a my experience dealing with corporate Finance.
After UNISYS, I was employed with America's Charities for the next eight (8) years in Fairfax, VA. While there, I developed extensive proprietary database applications to manage Workplace Fundraising. I also developed networks, established internet connectivity, and basically brought the company into the age of the Internet. When I left I had achieved the role of Director of Fiscal Services and Information Systems with a small staff in both departments.
For the past dozen years or so I have had the opportunity to work in various positions as a contract employee with a number of great companies including MCI/WorldCom and America Online.
I took a position with Icon Graphics in Hagerstown, MD in May of 2008 where I have been fine tuning my skills with web based applications. I still work for Icon today on a contractual basis.
Currently, in addition to my other efforts, I serve as the Information Technology Director for the Morgan County Commission, here in West Virginia.
Over the past few years, I decided to create "More Than A Geek®" and continue develop my skills in website development, specializing in services for the small company.
